Due to the cool spring weather conditions, caterpillars in the first grade room are developing slowly, but students anticipate soon being able to transfer them to the hanging butterfly house. Classroom ladybugs are very busy in their little home and are doing nicely. Mr. Zaccaria, an entomologist, added to this knowledge from observation when he came to the classroom and talked to the students about insects and showed them his collection.
Fifth graders are designing their own roller coasters to share with the class. Some are making their coaster from a computer program; others are creating them from creative materials from home.
In Mr. Prinster’s 7/6 math class students are practicing finding unstated information in fractional part problems and working with liquid measurements. Accelerated algebra students are working problems with the quadratic formula and working with box-and-whisker plots.
The annual OLPH Olympic’s Day will kick off Friday morning, April 22, with the traditional Parade of Countries and Lighting of the Torch Ceremony at 8:15 a.m. Students will participate in athletic events throughout the morning.
