OLPH St. Vincent de Paul Conference

SVP is planning to purchase water and snacks for the KC Mental Health Dept. “Project Help” and sandwich supplies for St. Vincent de Paul Center on Bakers Street.  They will accept monetary donations today

Religious Education

2005-06 Religious Education registration is still open through May 31.  Parents of 1st & 2nd grade children should register NOW because class size is limited. Registration forms are available on our parish web site www.olphbak.org.  Look under resources-forms. 

Religious Education is in need of parent volunteers for 1st & 2nd year sacrament classes and pre-Confirmation 10th grade & Confirmation.  If your child is planning to attend one of these classes in the fall we need you! Call Religious Education for information—322-7200.

YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

We Have A Fireworks Booth!!  This year our booth will be located in the Vons parking lot on Olive Drive and Knudson.  We are in need of volunteers to make this year’s booth a success.  If you are willing to help in any way, please call Greg West in the Youth Ministry Office 327-0712

RCIA

If you are an adult or an older child (age 7 and up) who has not been baptized,

or if you are an adult interested in joining the Catholic Church, or if you are a Catholic wishing to received your First Communion and/or Confirmation, then the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a program for you. Please call Debbie Garton 716-1005 for more

information about classes starting in September.

Mrs. Sbardellati’s fifth graders are learning a “rap” song which tells the story of how our “New Nation” was formed by the delegates at the Grand Convention.  They are also preparing to present one of their God-given talents at a show on June 7 and 8.

          Power Point presentations created by seventh grade social studies students will depict cultures of other countries

          Sixth graders in Mrs. Louden’s room are memorizing the Corporal Works of Mercy as they complete an especially important lesson on the call to holiness.

          Mrs. McGovern’s first graders will enjoy a picnic lunch with their fifth grade buddies.  A trip to Chuck E. Cheese is also planned along with ice-cream sundaes to celebrate summer birthdays.  A Math and Spelling Bee will be held with awards for successful participation.

          Third grade students in Mrs. Zaccaria’s are learning more about the Blessed Virgin and will discover how Jewish girls learned about the Messiah and    the source of the words in the Hail Mary prayer.

          Mr. Prinster’s accelerated algebra students are studying geometry topics including intersections, segment bisectors, and angle bisectors.
