OLPH invites all parishioners to get in the spirit and join our many religious education groups. Our Kinder-Catholic, Elementary CCD, Youth Ministry, RCIA, and Children’s Catechumenate staff will be on hand to discuss teacher formation and commitment. We will also feature a special group discussion for Eucharist Ministers, Lectors, and Ushers. Group topics will include scripture, tradition, prayer, service, class lesson plans and activities. Current teachers, formation day will satisfy the basic catechist certificate requirement for Module 4 session #3. For more information or to RSVP call Rosemarie Dermer 322-7200. Come! Congratulations to the following students who received Honorable Mention awards on their projects at the Kern County Science Fair: D.J. Derouin, Sarah Krecklow and Lindsay Mathews.
Congratulations to Erin Kaiser, 2nd place winner in the Kern County Community Energy Essay competition sponsored by Chevron-Texaco. In addition to a certificate, Erin received a Barnes and Noble gift certificate and the school received a gift certificate from G W School Supplies.
Congratulations to classroom winners of the Bank of America Essay/Speech Contest: Gary Hubl – grade 4, Gabriel Buenviaje – Grade 5, Cynamon Weston – Grade 6. Gary’s essay was selected as a winner to be presented as a speech at the county competition.
Students interested in becoming a Student Council officer/member for the next school year are completing petitions. Students must get parent and teacher signatures and turn in the petitions by April 28. The election will be held Friday, May 6.
Eighth graders will be traveling to Los Angeles to visit the Museum of Tolerance Friday, April 29. The trip is correlated with their study of World War II and the novel, “The Diary of Anne Frank.”
