As announced last week, school begins one week earlier this year—August 22. We hope the weather cooperates. Educators of the area believe concluding the first semester before the Christmas holiday will aid test scores. The children apparently forget all they learn before Christmas for the exams afterwards. If test scores rise, they may be right.
In preparation for the students’ return to our Parish School, to our Parish Religious Education Program, and to our Youth Ministry, the carpets in all the classrooms were shampooed. In addition, the boys’ restroom was refurbished with new panels, new faucets, and a fresh coat of paint.
Meanwhile, we are awaiting a bid on painting the exterior of the Church, the hall, and possibly the rectory.
This past week our trees were trimmed in preparation for the winds of Fall. That thought actually is cooling.
And, finally, what is commonly referred to as the “work sacristy” (the room on the east side of the altar) will soon receive new shelving, a new sink, and hot water!!! This will allow our sacristans and altar volunteers access to hot water in the church. The remodeling of the “work” sacristy will be followed by improvements to the priests’ sacristy. All possible because of your donations!
