Prayer Requests
There are a few new changes on our Prayer
Line. Please refer to your list when calling to be sure you are
calling the correct person.
When you receive a prayer request:
- Try to get the consent of the person being put on the prayer
line.
- Please write it down so as to remember it correctly.
- Call the person directly under your name and pass the prayer
request on. If you cannot reach that person, continue to go
down the list until you reach the next available person. Try
to contact the original person and give her the message later
on.
In a very short period of time, a network
of prayer will be in effect. There is such great power in prayer.
Our parish is looking to us to keep the Prayer Line active and
effective.
PRAYER:
Begin by thanking and praising the Lord
for His goodness.
Finish by thanking Him in advance for hearing and
answering our prayers.
Pray in the manner that is most comfortable for you.
Some suggestions:
A short, simple prayer from the heart
The rosary or part of it
Praying the Scriptures
Fasting and praying
History of Prayer Line
The prayer line has been in effect for
over 20 years. It probably started when someone heard of other
churches having one. There
are 4 groups now of 9 people each. Every year at membership time,
it may change with additions and subtractions. To be a caller,
one must be a paid member of the Women's Guild and be willing
to call the next person in her group or until she reaches someone
in her group to pass on the prayer request. I am called first
with the request, then I call the head of each group. In a short
time, many prayers are being said. The request should be for
someone having surgery, a terminal illness or other serious concerns.
We know prayers are powerful by the feedback I get. Some are
almost like miracles. I can be reached by

Sincerely,
Shirley
